ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A resident of this city is facing charges for violation of the Animal Welfare Act for allegedly poisoning pet cats and dogs of residents of a subdivision in Brgy. Sibaguan here.
Sibaguan Punong Barangay Johnny Arciga said they have already ascertained the name of the suspect responsible for the poisoning of 34 dogs and 2 cats owned by Happy Homes Subdivision residents.
He said they immediately coordinated with the homeowners’ association of the said subdivision for the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Investigation conducted by the security chief of Pueblo de Panay, where the subdivision is located, indicated that the suspect was from Barangay Dayao here.
The suspect warned that the subdivision residents should keep their pets in their houses.
But the residents were dismayed when they found their pets dead after allegedly eating poisoned meat which the suspect dropped on the subdivision road.
Arciga has said that the barangay council will summon the suspect.
