Marina to inspect floating restaurant

BACOLOD CITY – City Administrator John Orola said the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) is set to inspect the city’s first floating restaurant which will soon operate in Sum-ag River here.

Orola said the inspection should have been conducted this week, but it was moved to Aug 31, 2019 due to the unpredictable weather this week.

Orola also said the delay will allow them to secure other needed documents for the floating restaurant’s operations.

He added that Marina’s certification is needed as they have to look into the “seaworthiness” of the floating restaurant.

The city government will also conduct competitive bidding for the operator of the floating restaurant.

Orola said the blessing of the vessel will be held next month and they are eyeing full operations by October in time for the 40th MassKara Festival.

The P3.4-million floating restaurant can accommodate at least 30 people.

The floating restaurant is expected to sail the Sum-ag River between Barangays Sum-ag, Cabug, and Punta Taytay.
