Marcus Smart, more NBA players test positive for COVID-19

Marcus Smart, the Boston Celtics’ defensive guard, announced that he was tested positive for COVID-19.

The Boston Celtics released a statement that they have a player who tested positive for the virus but stopped short of naming Smart.

Right after Boston’s issuance of their statement, Smart then confirmed that it was him that tested positive for the disease.

On March 6, 2020, the Celtics played the Utah Jazz, in which two of the first players tested positive for COVID-19 were in the playing court, namely Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell.

The Boston management said that Smart is currently on isolation and is under monitoring and medication under their medical staff.

Smart then said that he is not feeling any illness or any kind of pain, but to be safe, he will follow management protocols to avoid worse case scenarios.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Denver Nuggets also announced that they also have members of their team testing positive for COVID-19. The teams however, declined to identify what role those persons had with their respective organizations.
