Filipino volleyball superstar Marck Espejo will return to his Asian import duties after a Southeast Asian Games bronze medal finish with the Alas men’s national team.
On Dec. 21, 2025, Espejo revealed that he would be preparing the necessary documents after receiving a call-up from a Taiwanese volleyball club.
“Right now, rest first,” Espejo said. “When I get back to the Philippines, I’ll fix my documents and then I’ll play in Taiwan. That’s next. I’m returning to a club team, this time, in Taiwan.”
Espejo is fresh off a dominant outing in the SEA Games, dropping 30 points to help the PHL national team escape a 0-2 hole in the bronze medal match against Vietnam.
The former Ateneo de Manila University standout delivered when Alas needed him the most, regaining his offensive touch midway through the third set as the national team made a run to stay alive.
Espejo scored several massive and timely hits, including off-the-block kills that extended the showdown to a thrilling five-set affair.
After facing a demoralizing 0-2 deficit, Espejo and the PHL spikers pulled through in the decider, taking a much-needed cushion in the early phase to conclude their SEAG journey with a 23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 16-14 victory.
“I’m super happy,” Espejo said. “Our goal was to really reach the podium. Everyone dreams of winning gold, but that’s still a long way to go. We’re on the right path.”
Before moving to Taiwan, Espejo last rendered his services to the Kubota Spears Osaka in Japan and the Incheon Air Jumbos in Korea.
