The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) is holding its general membership meeting in Iloilo City today, Aug. 29, 2025, to highlight the city’s transformation journey and linking it to a broader national vision called Dream Philippines.
The event, to be held at Seda Atria Hotel in Mandurriao, will gather more than 1,200 CEOs and senior executives representing major businesses and organizations across the country.
MAP President Al Panlilio, chair of Maya Bank and former PLDT president and CEO, will lead the delegation.
“Bringing the MAP GMM to Iloilo is MAP recognizing the dramatic transformation of Iloilo from being what used to be its label as the ‘armpit’ of the Visayas into a model for good governance and urban redevelopment,” the organization said in a statement.
The forum, co-hosted with the Iloilo Economic Development Foundation (ILEDF), will feature key discussions on how Iloilo achieved its so-called “Iloilo Miracle” through aligned leadership, strategic planning, and sustained reforms.
Former Senate President Franklin M. Drilon and former Iloilo City mayor Jerry P. Treñas will share insights on the city’s development, which has been cited as a model for governance and investment-driven growth.
To broaden the discussion to nation building, MAP has invited former Finance Secretary Dr. Jesus P. Estanislao as keynote speaker.
Estanislao, chair emeritus of the Institute of Corporate Directors, will present “Dream Philippines,” a long-term roadmap launched in 2022 that envisions inclusive development for the Filipino people.
“Dream Philippines envisions the transformation of the Philippines and the comprehensive and inclusive development of the Filipino, by the Filipino and for the Filipino,” Estanislao said.
He emphasized that Iloilo’s success offers lessons for replication in over 1,700 local government units nationwide.
“The thesis is that if the Iloilo Miracle, which was the result of an excellent transformation roadmap, outstanding execution, and distinguished and aligned leadership, can be replicated, we will be able to achieve our Dream Philippines,” he said.
The event will also induct more than 20 senior Ilonggo executives and leaders into MAP, reinforcing Iloilo’s rising prominence as a hub for both business leadership and governance innovation.
The meeting will be accessible to MAP members nationwide via Zoom, enabling executives from Metro Manila and Cebu to take part in the discussions.
