Manila is set to buzz with excitement as it hosts the third ASICS Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Manila presented by AIA on Nov. 23-24, featuring thousands of runners from 58 countries.
The event will kick off at Rizal Park with an electric atmosphere powered by live drumbeats, themed water stations, and dynamic performances energizing runners along the route. Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo welcomed the international event, emphasizing its role in promoting fitness and community spirit.
“Participation is all about discipline and determination, and being fit and healthy,” Servo said during the formal kickoff at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.
The marathon offers four categories—5K, 10K, 21K, and 42K. Marathon and half-marathon races will start at 10 p.m. on Saturday, giving participants a rare chance to traverse Manila’s illuminated landmarks, including Intramuros, Jones Bridge, and Chinatown, under the city’s night sky.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna underscored the city’s readiness to host world-class events, highlighting the race as a testament to the city’s progress in promoting health, tourism, and culture.
“This marathon reflects Manila’s resilience, history, and aspirations for the future,” said Princess Galura, general manager and regional director of the organizing IRONMAN Group Philippines.
Shina Buxani of ASICS expressed pride in the growing running culture in the Philippines, calling it proof that “running in the country is truly alive.”
The event is expected to draw over 9,000 participants, with local organizations working to ensure a smooth, safe, and memorable experience. The race will conclude with a midnight concert at the Quirino Grandstand, blending endurance with entertainment in a celebration of community, music, and culture.
