After dominating the Cebuana Lhuiller Girls’ Tennis Challenge in the under 14 and 16 categories qualifying tournament, Alexa Joy Milliam and Justine Hannah Maneja will represent the Philippines in the coming WTA Future Stars in Shenzhen, China from October 20 to 28, 2019.
The high-seeded Milliam dispatched Jufe-Ann Cocoy in straight-sets, 7-5, 6-3, leading to Milliam capturing the U14 title.
Meanwhile, Maneja capped off her historic run in the tournament with an upset win against top- ranked Jenaila Rose Prulla in a grueling three-set victory, 6-4,1-6,10-8, to clinch the title in the U16.
With their respective wins, both of them qualified for the WTA Future Stars and will look to prove to the world that Filipinos can excel in the sport of tennis.
