BACOLOD City – An estimated P8.5 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust in Barangay Talungon, Bais City, Negros Oriental last Monday.
Police arrested Alex Torres, 50, of Barangay Sab-ahan, Manjuyod town, who is tagged as a high value individual.
Around 1.25 kilograms of suspected shabu and P1,000 marked money were seized from Torres in the operation.
Aside from the said contraband, police also recovered from Torres a .9mm caliber, and five ammunition.
Police are still investigating the source of the contraband.
Torres will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and another case for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law in relation to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.
The Comelec gun ban that was imposed beginning January 9, 2022 until June 8, 2022, prohibits individuals to carry firearms outside their residences, unless otherwise authorized.
Torres, who has yet to be reached for comment, is detained at Bais City Police Station.
