A 42-year-old man was arrested several hours after allegedly stabbing his drinking companion in Oton, Iloilo.
Ariston Tamonan, a resident of Phase 1, Botda Village in Barangay Buray, Oton, was nabbed around 11:45 p.m. of July 11 at Ginalinan village, Dingle town.
Tamonan did not resist when police apprehended him over allegations that he stabbed to death Erwin Tacluyan, 57, also a resident of Botda Village in Oton.
Police were informed that Tacluyan’s stab-riddled body was found 6 a.m. Sunday near a comfort room.
Tamonan allegedly admitted to killing Tacluyan following a heated argument.
But he claimed that it was out of self defense as the victim allegedly tried to stab him first.
Tamonan said he tried to bring home Tacluyan after their drinking session.
The suspect claimed he was too drunk to remember what exactly happened.
His only recollection was that they grappled for a knife.
Tamonan is now detained pending the filing of charges against him.
