Major Bonifacio Aral Jr., San Enrique town police chief, said murder charges are being readied against 28-year-old Bryan Escasinas.
Bryan allegedly waylaid and stabbed his cousin Neil Escasinas, 24, of Barangay Tabugon while the latter was walking home at Barangay Sibucao last Saturday.
Aral said the suspect was drunk when the incident happened.
“Gin sugata niya iya pakaisa kuno, kay daw na pikon siya siguro,” Aral said, adding that the suspect and the victim had a previous misunderstanding prior to the incident.
Police recovered from the suspect a double-bladed knife that was allegedly used in the incident.
Escasinas is detained at San Enrique Municipal Police Station.
