A farmer who was transporting vegetables to the market died after he fell from the roof of a passenger jeepney.
Reynaldo Camral, 46, of Barangay Bucari, Leon, Iloilo, apparently dozed off while the jeepney was passing by Barangay Buga around 7:20 a.m. of July 11, 2019.
Police Staff Sergeant Edzel Edlang, Leon police investigator, said Camral was seated on top of sacks filled with vegetables that were loaded on the jeepney’s roof.
Camral had companions but the victim was seated on the roof’s edge.
The driver was allegedly navigating a hilly curve when the incident happened.
Edlang said the victim went to a wake the night before the incident.
“He might have been too sleepy that he fell asleep just three kilometers before he reached their destination at the Bagsakan Market,” Edlang said.
Members of the Leon Responders brought the victim to Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian town where he was declared dead on arrival.
Edlang said Camral succumbed to head injuries.
