Man wanted under VAWC law arrested in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested a 33-year-old man wanted for an alleged violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 13.
The suspect was arrested in Barangay Punta Tabuc.
Police identified him only as alias “Nonoy,” a resident of the village.
Judge Joan Marie Betita of Regional Trial Court Branch 14 at the Roxas City Hall of Justice issued the arrest warrant on Aug. 12, 2026.
The suspect is in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station pending referral to the court.
Police did not disclose the specific accusation or information about the alleged victim.
Republic Act 9262 covers physical, sexual and psychological harm or suffering, as well as economic abuse, involving women and their children within relationships specified by the law.
The suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
