Man wanted for raping deaf-mute girl arrested in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a 40-year-old man in Barangay Azagra, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a deaf-mute girl in multiple incidents.

An arrest warrant for four counts of qualified rape, with no bail recommended, was served against the suspect, a resident of San Jose town.

According to the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region, the suspect is the brother of the live-in partner of the victim’s mother.

The suspect was listed as the ninth most wanted person in the region and the top one at the provincial and municipal levels.

Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO–NIR director, vowed to continue intensifying law enforcement operations and strengthening community partnerships to uphold peace, protect the people, and sustain public trust.

Through continuous intelligence-driven operations, close coordination among units, and proactive policing, the regional office remains committed to pursuing wanted persons who attempt to evade arrest and accountability.
