ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man long wanted for murder was arrested after 17 years of hiding.
Police nabbed Bert Tamita, 40, of Brgy. Aglanot Dumarao, Capiz at Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Brgy. Rumbang Pototan, Iloilo.
The warrant of arrest was issued by the late Judge Charlito Fantilanan of the Regional Trial Court Branch 18 here dated July 16, 2006 with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.
Tamita was placed under hospital arrest due to an ailment.
Police records indicated that Tamita went into hiding after a murder case was filed against him.
Meanwhile, a warrant of arrest was served by the police to a driver for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287 or Anti-Illegal Gambling Law at Pueblo De Panay in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City.
Police identified the suspect as alias Turing, 58, of Barangay Milibili here.
The arrest warrant was issued by the late Judge Jeffrey D. Almalbis of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 1, Roxas City on September 14, 2006.
The court recommended P10,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
