BACOLOD City – A man who was linked to the death of his live-in partner was released from police custody last Monday, pending the submission of the death certificate and autopsy result.
Despite his release from detention, Police Major Armilyn Vargas, head of Police Station 3, said a murder charge was already filed against 30-year-old Josan Destua before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office.
Destua was arrested Saturday after he was sighted near their rented house in Barangay Banago here, several hours after the discovery of the lifeless body of the victim identified as Roselyn Destua, 33, of Barangay Zone 16, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim was found wrapped in a blanket inside a room.
Based on a statement of a witness, the suspect was seen leaving their house on Friday, Feb. 17, following an argument with the victim, according to Vargas.
Police are waiting for the autopsy result to determine the cause of the victim’s death.
