A 65-year-old man was placed behind bars after he allegedly stabbed dead his younger brother late afternoon of April 28, 2021 in Oton, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as Romeo Salitre, a farmer from Barangay Cadinglian, the area where the incident happened.
Reports indicated that Romeo stabbed his younger brother, 54-year old Purisimo, after the interment of their cousin Thelma Mallorca.
The duo allegedly went binge drinking and had a verbal tussle shortly after.
The victim allegedly first struck the suspect.
Romeo retaliated by repeatedly stabbing the victim’s body and right thigh.
The victim was rushed to Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian town but did not pull through.
The suspect is detained but the victim’s wife allegedly had no intention to pursue criminal charges against Romeo.
