A 54-year old man was stabbed to death following an altercation during a drinking binge evening of Aug 6, 2020 in Badiangan, Iloilo.
Nelvin Acopio, a resident of Barangay Tamocol, Badiangan, Iloilo, succumbed to several stab wounds on different parts of his body.
Acopio died at the Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay town.
Police Lieutenant Ma. Doreen Losaria, Badiangan police chief, said the victim and another man were binge drinking when they had a heated argument.
The incident happened at Cabangaan village around 9 p.m. Thursday. Since both were drunk, the altercation led to an argument.
At the height of the fracas, the suspect, Francis John Nobleza, also a resident of Barangay Tamocol, came to the defense of his uncle and repeatedly stabbed Acopio.
The suspect fled after the incident.
But Losaria said the suspect’s father urged his son to voluntarily surrender to authorities.
Nobleza is now detained while charges are being readied against him.
