A 25-year-old man repeatedly stabbed the stepfather of his live-in partner following a fight late evening of May 1 in Pavia, Iloilo.
The suspect, Gino Lagansua, did not attempt to flee after he allegedly killed Richard Mambusada, 44.
The incident happened after the two figured in a heated argument at the home they shared in Barangay Ungka II around 11:25 p.m. Monday.
Major Dadje Delima, Pavia police chief, said the victim scolded the suspect for not contributing to their household expenses.
As their argument heated up, Lagansua allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Mambusada who was lying on the couch.
The victim was rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City but was declared dead on arrival.
Delima said Mambusada suffered seven stabbed injuries on his abdomen and side of the body.
Lagansua stayed at the scene of the incident until responding police arrested him.
Lagansua is now detained and will be charged with murder.
