BACOLOD City – Grudges triggered a man to kill his uncle-turned-stepfather at their house in Barangay Gahit, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The victim was identified as Renante Tuting, 44.
Police Major Kenneth Jay Gratones, E.B. Magalona town police chief, said the victim reportedly came home drunk and began saying something about the suspect identified as Loyd Richard Tuting, 19.
This irked the suspect, prompting him to confront the victim, Gratones said.
A heated argument then ensued between them leading to a commotion, he added.
Loyd Richard allegedly stabbed Renanted in the chest. The victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Gratones said Renante is Loyd Richard’s uncle since the latter’s father and the former were siblings.
But the victim married the suspect’s mother, making him the latter’s stepfather, he added.
“Natipon na siguro ang kalain buot niya (suspect) kay everytime magpuli sa ila balay ang victim gamaoy kung hubog kag gawakal-wakal daw chismis parte sa ila,” Gratones said.
Gratones said the victim also allegedly hurt the suspect. “Gina kastigo man daw siya ka biktima kuno,” he added.
Homicide charges will be filed against the suspect, who is in police custody.
