BACOLOD City – Homicide charges are being readied against a man who allegedly killed his neighbor due to drunkenness in Barangay Suba, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Warlito Fernandez Jr., 42.
Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, town police chief, said the victim and the suspect identified as Jay-r Arquilita, 30 were having a drinking session along with two others when an altercation ensued between them. “Parang nagkantiyawan sila,” he added.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim several times and fled. The victim was taken to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
Lidawan said the suspect was later arrested in a pursuit operation. Police, however, failed to recover the bladed weapon used in the incident.
