A 43-year-old is now behind bars after attacking his estranged wife’s live-in partner evening of Nov. 7 at Oton, Iloilo.
Victor Nicoyco, a resident of Barangay Abilay Sur, Oton, Iloilo, was arrested after he allegedly stabbed Reymund Java, 49.
Java, also a resident of Abilay Sur village, was drinking liquor at the neighborhood sundry store owned by Nicoyco’s wife when the incident happened.
The suspect arrived at the store at around 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
When he confirmed that Java was there, Nicoyco went to his tricycle and took his knife.
He immediately went back and stabbed the victim.
Java was hit on the left hand after he was able to parry the attack.
His two friends immediately came to his defense and grappled for the knife.
They then punched the suspect.
Both Nicoyco and Java were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Nicoyco was later detained after getting treated while Java is still confined.
Major Fernand Limbungan, Oton police chief, said Java is bent on filing criminal charges against the suspect.
