A 28-year-old man voluntarily surrendered after stabbing his cousin evening of April 5, 2021 in Maasin, Iloilo.
Francis Cordero, 28, a resident of the upland barangay of Dagami, Maasin, turned himself to police authorities after he stabbed his second cousin, Jey Cordero, around 10:00 p.m. of Monday.
Jey, 21, also a resident of the said village suffered a stab injury on the left side of his breast.
Major Fernand Limbungan, Maasin police chief, said it appeared that the fight between the two cousins stemmed from drunkenness.
Jey and Francis, together with some relatives, went into a drinking spree at the house of Felizardo Cordero.
“Both drunk, they had a verbal tussle until Francis stabbed Jey,” Limbungan said.
The victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Limbungan said the victim claimed they would not pursue the case and only asked the suspect to help them out with their hospital bills.
