A 29-year-old man is in police custody after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor early morning of September 18 in City Proper, Iloilo City.
Ace Deslate, a resident of Zone 8, Barangay Veterans Village, City Proper, was arrested in a hot pursuit operation.
Deslate allegedly attacked Ernie Arceo, 25, following an argument.
The two are working as merchandisers for the same company.
Prior to the stabbing episode, the suspect attended the birthday party of Arceo’s younger brother and went on a drinking spree.
Both drunk, the two engaged in a verbal tussle that led to a brawl. But some friends and relatives pacified them.
Deslate went home, took a knife, and went to the victim’s house. He immediately stabbed Arceo on the left upper portion of his back.
The victim was rushed to West Visayas State University Medical Center for treatment.
Captain Roque Gimeno III, Iloilo City Police Station 1 chief, said that while the two are co-workers, the suspect harbored a grudge against the suspect.
Deslate claimed that Arceo frequently belittled him.
The suspect is now detained while charges are being prepared against him.
