A 40-year old man is already in stable condition following a knife attack on April 21, 2023 in La Paz, Iloilo City.
The incident happened after the victim, Mark Anthony Arsulo of Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz, visited his live-in partner at the latter’s family home in Barangay Burgos.
Arsulo was sitting outside his partner’s home around 11:30 p.m., when Carl Ellehcir de Guzman, 32, a resident of the nearby Barangay Montinola, Jaro district, approached him.
The victim told police investigators that de Guzman stabbed the victim repeatedly sans any provocation.
Rowel Lasibal, 46, a resident of Barangay Burgos-Mabini, La Paz, pacified them and subsequently took Arsulo to Iloilo Mission Hospital.
Luckily, Arsulo only suffered three lacerated wounds on his lower left neck and three on his back.
De Guzman was eventually arrested during a hot pursuit operation.
Arsulo positively identified de Guzman as his attacker when the latter was presented at the hospital.
Captain Johna Aguil, Iloilo City Police Station 2 chief, said old grudges may have triggered the incident. There is bad blood between the two after their previous exchanges of scathing words.
Aguil said de Guzman was drunk when the incident happened.
The suspect is now detained and might be charged for frustrated murder.
