Man stabbed in birthday party

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 47-year-old farmer was stabbed to death by a friend evening of Aug 3, 2019 during a birthday party in Barangay Bunga, Mambusao, Capiz.

Police identified the victim as Catalino Quiatchon of nearby Barangay Caidquid, Mambusao who suffered fatal injuries in different parts of the body inflicted by his friend Juvy Barquilla, 37, also of Bunga village.

Investigation by the Mambusao police indicated that the victim and the suspect, including some friends, were drinking liquor in a birthday party at the house of Evangelista Vieto when a commotion occurred.

Barquilla allegedly pushed Vieto which Quiatchon witnessed. The victim suddenly punched the suspect in the face.

Quiatchon followed Barquilla who went outside of the house until the latter draw a knife from his waist and stabbed the victim.

Not contented, the suspect followed the victim who went inside the house and stabbed Vieto but the latter parried the blow.

Barquilla fled after committing the crime but was arrested in a hot pursuit operation by the police.

Murder charge is being prepared against Barquilla who is presently detained at the Mambusao police station.
