BACOLOD City A man was found dead at a rice field in Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental Saturday night.
Police identified the fatality as Mico Carmona, 37, of the said village.
The victim suffered a lone stab wound on his chest.
Investigation showed that the victim and his live-in partner were walking home when the suspect identified as Ronel De Ramos, 45, of the said village, waylaid them at 6:30 p.m.
De Ramos then allegedly attacked the victim with a knife.
The suspect and the victims partner were married for almost 20 years but got separated in May 2018, police records showed.
De Ramos surrendered to the police two hours after the incident, bringing with him the 13-inch knife he used on the victim.
He is detained at La Castellana Municipal Police Station.
