BACOLOD City – A man died while another was injured in two separate stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental last Sunday.
In Manapla town, Nathaniel Cabahug Sr., 59, of Barangay Sta. Mesa was allegedly stabbed to death by his neighbor Arnold Castillano, 37, due to grudges.
Police Major Joevito Bose, town police chief, said Cabahug and Castillano figured in a heated argument that prompted the latter to attack the victim with a screwdriver.
Bose said that the duo had previous misunderstandings in their neighborhood.
Cabahug suffered a lone stab wound on the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo Hospital, while Castillano is still at large.
In Isabela town, Carlos Iglesia, 35, of Ilog town, was wounded after he was allegedly stabbed by his co-worker Rodgie Gantalao, 35, of Binalbagan town.
Police Captain Ryan Villasario, town police chief, said Iglesia was fixing his tricycle, which he will use to deliver bread the next day, when the suspect, who was reportedly drunk, attacked him with a knife.
Iglesia suffered a lone stab wound in the back and was taken to Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital.
Villasario said Iglesia tried to retaliate by throwing a rock against Gantalao, but the latter fled.
Gantalao was arrested later that night at Barangay Mansablay. Police recovered from him the knife he used on the victim.
Villasario said they are also looking into grudges as possible motive behind the incident, adding that they had previous misunderstandings at the bakery.
