BACOLOD City – Murder charges were filed on Thursday against a man who killed his neighbor at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 here last Wednesday.
Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, deputy commander of Police Station 2, said that a criminal complaint was filed against Alex Bernabe for allegedly stabbing the victim identified as Fernando Padilla.
Pastrana said the incident stemmed from a heated argument between the victim and the suspect when the former reportedly lighted a “boga,” a noisemaker usually made of PVC pipe or bamboo for revelries, a week ago.
“Nag-lainay sila buot, nag-lalisay sila,” he added.
However, on early Wednesday, Bernabe entered the victim’s house and allegedly stabbed him on the chest and back while he was sleeping.
Bernabe then fled and hid at his friend’s house, but he was later arrested after his friend reported him to the police.
Police recovered from Bernabe a knife.
Pastrana said that Bernabe was also identified by some residents as a nuisance in the barangay.
Meanwhile, another stabbing incident also happened that day in the said barangay that wounded a man from Barangay Singcang-Airport here.
