BACOLOD City – Police are preparing murder charges against a man who allegedly killed his sister’s live-in partner at Sitio Tabunok 3, Barangay Paitan, Escalante City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Guillermo Tuanda, 48, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Evan Salvo, city police chief, said Tuanda heard the suspect identified as Santiago Sabillano, 44, arguing with his 81-year-old mother.
Tuanda and his live-in partner then went to Sabillano’s house to pacify them.
But Sabillano reportedly got angry and figured in an altercation with Tuanda.
Since both are living in the same compound, Sabillano went home and when he returned to confront Tuanda, the former allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen.
They grappled for the bladed weapon, but Sabillano’s sister begged him to stop the commotion, as her live-in partner (Tuanda) was already wounded, Salvo said.
The victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while the suspect was arrested yesterday through the help of barangay officials.
