BACOLOD City – A husband killed his wife over an argument about their house renovation at Purok 1, Barangay Yao Yao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
The victim was identified by the police as Precilla Mediona, 50, of the said village.
Staff Sergeant Cyrus Maquiling, investigator of Cauayan Municipal Police Station, said the victim arrived in the province last December 19, 2020 after working in Manila for two years.
When she arrived home, she was surprised to see that their house looked the same despite the money she sent to her husband Eduardo Mediona, 58, for its renovation.
It led to series of argument until she decided to stay in the meantime at their daughter’s house, Maquiling said.
When she returned to their house on January 13, the couple figured in another argument that led to the grisly incident.
Maquiling said the suspect took a knife and allegedly slit his wife’s neck, as witnessed by their other children who were at home.
The victim was able to run and seek help from the nearby barangay hall. She was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Maquiling said the wife was reportedly being physically abused by her husband whenever they had an argument that’s why she opted to work in Manila.
Maquiling said the suspect, who is at large, is facing parricide charges.
