A 49-year-old man was injured after he was shot while sleeping inside his home in Dingle, Iloilo, early Tuesday, July 7.
The victim, identified only as alias Renante of Barangay Lincud, Dingle, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg.
The incident happened around 1:15 a.m. but was reported to police about an hour later.
The victim was brought to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan for treatment.
Capt. Alwin Salmon, Dingle police chief, said the victim was in bed on the second floor of his house, which was made of light materials.
Police believe the gunman fired from outside the house and targeted the room where Renante was sleeping.
The victim told investigators he had no known enemies except a neighbor against whom he had filed a complaint before the incident.
Salmon said police were looking into that possibility as one of the motives behind the shooting.
