BACOLOD City – Police are eyeing anger or hatred as possible motive behind the death of a man who was stabbed and shot at Crossing Iglesia, Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
The victim was identified as Gody Lozano, 30, of the said village.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Vincent Limaco, chief investigator of Himamaylan City Police Station, said Lozano was fetched by two unidentified persons from their house around 11 p.m. last Saturday, based on the statement of the victim’s wife.
Limaco said the wife then heard successive gunshots from afar. Sugarcane workers found the victim’s body the following day.
Limaco said the victim was found lying face down in a canal, and suffered nine gunshot wounds and two stab wounds in various parts of his body, based on the autopsy results.
“Pwerte gid siguro kainit sang suspects sa iya kay kadamo siya injuries,” he added.
Limaco said slugs of M16 rifle ammunition were also recovered.
Limaco said they already have persons of interest, but they are not yet sure if only two perpetrators were involved in the crime, as they are looking into the possibility that there might be other perpetrators who served as lookouts in the area where the victim was murdered.
“Wala ta witnesses, so indi pa mabal-an if pila gid ang suspects,” he added.
Limaco said the victim had no records at the police station.
He said profiling is ongoing to determine the background of the victim which may help them establish the motive.
