BACOLOD City – A misunderstanding between two brothers triggered by drunkenness led to the death of the older brother at Purok Sunshine, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Jay Malunes, 40, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, city police chief, said the victim and his younger brother Leonil, 37, were having a drinking session when they figured in a misunderstanding leading to a fistfight.
Leonil pacified his older brother, but the latter reportedly went berserk, according to Darroca.
Darroca said that Leonil allegedly shot the victim and fled.
The victim passed away in a hospital the following day after suffering injuries in the right forearm and left abdomen, according to the police chief.
