BACOLOD City – A man was gunned down at Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental late Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities identified the fatality as Johnny Orence, 35, of Barangay Igmaya-an
Police Captain Jerald Muya, Don Salvador Benedicto police chief, said Orence was walking home after attending a fiesta when Romeo Abrico, 47, of Murcia town allegedly shot him then fled on a motorcycle.
The victim succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his head.
Police recovered from the scene a .45-caliber bullet casing.
Muya said Abrico was later arrested at his residence after a witness identified him as the gunman. He is now detained at the police station for filing of murder charges.
Muya said they are eyeing land conflict as the motive for the killing.
