A 34-year-old man was wounded after he was shot by his live-in partner’s former lover.
The incident happened in the hinterland village of Panuran in Lambunao, Iloilo, on the evening of Nov. 18.
The victim, alias Nonoy, a resident of Barangay San Roque, Dumalag, Capiz, sustained pellet wounds to both legs and his left shoulder.
He was taken to Dr. Ricardo Ladrido Memorial Hospital in Lambunao and is now in stable condition.
Captain Jose Winston Biadog, Lambunao police chief, said the victim identified his attacker as alias Junjun, 34, of Barangay Pughanan, Lambunao.
According to reports, Nonoy and his live-in partner, 33-year-old Leoly, were walking to her home when the suspect waylaid them.
Police said Junjun, armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, allegedly emerged from a clump of bamboo grass and shot the victim twice.
They said the attacker fled immediately after the incident.
Biadog said Junjun had been sending threats to Leoly and Nonoy through Messenger.
He said Junjun and Leoly previously lived together but had no children.
The woman, a widow with four children, accused Junjun of physical abuse.
Biadog said it appeared the suspect wanted to reconcile with Leoly.
He said the woman refused and later lived with Nonoy.
As of this writing, police have yet to file a frustrated murder case against the suspect.
