BACOLOD City – A man and his uncle had a misunderstanding that led to a fatal shooting incident in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
The victim was identified as Jimmy Tiaga Sr., 56, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Alvimar Flores, Kabankalan City police chief, said the victim and the suspect identified as 34-year-old Leo Payag, figured into an argument.
However, Flores said they are still probing what really triggered the suspect to allegedly shoot his uncle.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds in both hands and chest. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
“Wala man sa ila may naka-inom and wala man sila dalom gid gin awayan,” Flores said.
Police recovered from the scene some fired bullets of a .9mm caliber firearm.
Flores said the victim’s family executed an affidavit of non-interest to file action or case against the suspect, who is still at large.
