A 56-year-old man was wounded after he was shot evening of Nov. 27 in Sara, Iloilo.
But Elvin Balbon, a resident of Barangay Devera, Sara, where the incident also happened, has already thumbed down plans to sue the suspect.
Major Aldren Lamera, Sara police chief, said Balbon has executed an affidavit of non-interest in pursuing a case against Joel Morales.
It was gathered that Morales, a resident of Barangay Ardemil, Sara, is the older brother of the victim’s live-in partner.
According to Lamera, Balbon was under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.
He allegedly challenged Morales to a fight, took a jungle bolo, and was poised to attack the suspect.
Angered over what happened, the suspect went home and took a firearm.
He went back to the area and tried to fire a warning shot.
However, the bullet hit Balbon’s right leg.
The victim was rushed to Sara District Hospital and is now in stable condition.
The suspect, on the other hand, fled after the incident.
