A 24-year-old man was shot dead on the evening of November 9 in Pototan, Iloilo.
Joel Mamon Mendez, 24, of Sitio Salngan, Barangay Purog, Pototan, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was taken to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police identified Mendez’s uncle, Renanye Dago, as the suspect.
Reports indicated that Mendez was drinking with another uncle when Dago arrived.
Dago was allegedly looking for the victim’s live-in partner, Pia.
Mendez and his other uncle attempted to approach Dago.
Dago allegedly warned them not to come closer.
An argument ensued, during which Dago shot Mendez in the chest.
Dago fled the scene and remains at large as of this writing.
Authorities recovered a spent cartridge and a live round of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition from the crime scene.
It was not immediately known why Dago was looking for Pia.
