BACOLOD City – A man shot dead his cousin at Sitio Tagda, Barangay Dolis, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Mario Mahinay, 25, of the said village.
Major Roberto Indiape Jr., town police chief, said Mahinay was talking with his other cousins when the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Jennifer Bargamento, arrived and allegedly shot him from behind.
Indiape said Mahinay was shot at close range, hitting his nape. The victim was declared dead at a hospital.
Their relatives chased the suspect, but they failed to get hold of him, the police chief added.
Indiape said the suspect might have had grudges against the victim, after he was reprimanded to stop answering back at his mother when the latter saw them arguing in the past weeks.
“Ginsaway niya man lang ang suspect kay gabato sa iloy, nakita niya lang paglabay after sa to basi nangakig ang suspect sa iya (victim),” Indiape said.
The suspect is still at large.
