A man was jailed for allegedly killing his older brother on June 17, 2020 in Tibiao, Antique.
Police identified the suspect as Milberto Vecino, 38, a resident of Barangay San Francisco Sur, Tibiao.
Police Staff Sergeant Mike Ryan Eraga, Tibiao police investigator, said there was no confrontation between Milberto and 50-year-old victim Edwin Vecino prior to the incident.
But witnesses claimed that Milberto, who was armed with a piece of wood, went “wild” and ran after Edwin’s son.
“The nephew managed to evade Milberto’s attack,” Eraga said.
When he saw Edwin, Milberto allegedly hit him in the head.
Edwin died at the Culasi District Hospital.
Responding police officers later arrested the suspect.
Eraga said Milberto has no medical records to show that he is suffering from mental health problems.
But witnesses claimed that it’s not farfetched that he needs psychiatric treatment.
