A jobless man was arrested for possessing around a kilo of marijuana during a police anti-drugs operation in Pavia, Iloilo afternoon of January 7, 2021.
Major Jojo Tabaloc, Pavia police chief, identified the suspect as Marc John Wendam, 27, a resident of Barangay Aganan, Pavia.
The suspect was arrested after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP3,000.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were suspected marijuana in five plastic bags with an estimated street value of PHP150,000; a digital working scale; and a mobile phone.
Tabaloc said the suspect is a newly identified drug personality.
Police learned of Wendam’s trade after the arrest of his “downline” seller. The marijuana had just arrived when police busted the suspect.
The supply came from Manila and was inserted inside a bag of ukay-ukay or used garments.
Wendam allegedly paid for the marijuana through GCash.
Tabaloc said the suspect is considered one of the biggest suppliers of marijuana in Iloilo.
He is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
