A 59-year old man was arrested in an entrapment operation evening of May 22, 2020 in San Lorenzo, Guimaras.
Pedro Sacayan allegedly sold a firearm to an undercover cop outside his house at Barangay Cabano 9:55 p.m. on Saturday.
Members of the Guimaras Provincial Police Office-Intelligence Section and San Lorenzo Police Station arrested Sacayan after he sold a caliber .38 revolver for P6,000.
Police also recovered from Sacayan five pieces of caliber .38 ammunition; a homemade (pistol-type) shotgun; a rifle-type homemade 12-gauge shotgun; cash and fake money; and a sling bag.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Benigno Bayoneta, San Lorenzo PNP deputy chief, said the suspect will be charged for violation of Article 5, Section 28, of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Meanwhile, Sacayan’s family denied that the suspect was into the illegal arms trade.
Rey Ann Sacayan, the suspect’s son, claimed that his mother told him that around eight armed men barged into their home past 9 p.m. Saturday. They looked for his father who was feeding his one-year-old grandchild.
The armed men allegedly poked a gun at Rey Ann’s 11-year-old and his 20-year-old siblings.
When the persons again looked for the suspect, the mother asked for a warrant of arrest, but they failed to present any.
His mother then told the men that she will ask for police assistance but the “armed men” said that the police were on their way.
His brother’s phone was also confiscated.
Rey Ann claimed that his family was surprised when the cops presented a firearm that they found in the house.
He said that they will file countercharges against the operatives.
Meanwhile, Police Major Ahlie Estember, chief of the GPPO-Intelligence Section, denied the Sacayans’ accusations saying that it was a legitimate entrapment operation.
He claimed the buy-bust happened outside the house. The suspect even presented to the undercover cop three firearms that he was selling.
Police claimed they received information about the suspect’s alleged activity a month ago.
