BACOLOD City – A man is facing rape charges in relation to violation of Republic Act 7610 or the “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act” on Wednesday, for allegedly sexually molesting his 11-year-old stepdaughter in one of the villages here on Monday.
Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, head of Police Station 9, said that suspect identified as Jerome Meñosa, 27, of Barangay Sum-ag here, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon at Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Pastrana said that Meñosa, armed with a bolo hid in a sugarcane field until he reached Bago City.
“It was really far but fortunately, our operatives were able to find him, based on the initial information given to us,” he added.
Meñosa was arrested around 6 p.m. He tried to resist from the arresting policemen, but he was cornered.
Police recovered from him the said bladed weapon.
Pastrana said that Meñosa was indicted for the said crime, after the victim’s medical examination results indicated that the child was positive for laceration.
She is still under the care of a temporary shelter which caters to abused children here.
