BACOLOD City – A man was arrested for alleged illegal possession of dangerous drugs in a checkpoint at Barangay Sum-ag here Monday morning.
Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey Rodrigo, 44, of Purok Mambulok, Barangay 10 here.
The suspect on board a motorcycle was approaching a check-up point when he was seen throwing something on the ground, police records showed.
He was flagged down by the police to check his quarantine pass but he failed to present one.
A police officer also checked the item he threw and found out that it was a sachet of suspected shabu weighing five grams worth P55,000.
Police also recovered from him an improvised tooter and P1,420 cash.
Rodrigo is detained at Police Station 9 and will be charged for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.
The check-up point is part of the stringent measures of the city police force to restrict the movement of people amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
