Young and drunk, a 16-year-old boy allegedly groped a teenage girl in Estancia, Iloilo.
Now 22, John Vincent Amistoso was arrested for a crime he allegedly committed several years back.
Members of the Estancia Municipal Police Station and operatives from other police units collared Amistoso at his home in Barangay Bulaqueña, Estancia afternoon of March 21.
Amistoso was the subject of an arrest warrant for acts of lasciviousness docketed as Criminal Case No. 4518.
Judge Danilo Balagtas of the 2nd Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Estancia-Batad, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on March 16, 2023.
A P36,000 bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Amistoso, an Alternative Learning System (ALS) student, was surprised that a case was filed against him.
According to reports, the incident happened on Dec. 17, 2017 after he and some friends had a drinking spree.
When he got drunk, he allegedly entered the house of a neighbor and made sexual advances on an 18-year-old girl.
Captain Arniel Buraga, Estancia police chief, said that the suspect may have planned on raping the complainant.
But the complainant allegedly resisted and was able to free herself from the suspect’s grasp. She later filed a criminal case against Amistoso.
