BACOLOD City – A man was allegedly mauled to death by his drinking buddy in Barangay II Poblacion, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Monday.
The victim was identified as Vicente Pingoy Jr., 43, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Lowell Garinganao, city police chief, said Pingoy and the suspect identified as Ralph John Molinos, 23, of the said village, were having a drinking session when a misunderstanding ensued between them.
“Mahilig ni abi mangulit ang biktima kuno, siguro na impito ining suspect,” Garinganao said.
The victim and the suspect figured in a heated argument until it led to a fistfight.
Garinganao said the victim suffered head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
The suspect later surrendered to the police, but the victim’s family refused to press charges against him, according to Garinganao.
