BACOLOD CITY — A 27-year-old man allegedly stabbed his stepbrother to death inside a computer shop in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, reportedly due to long-standing grudges.
Police Lt. Col. Nazer Canja, chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, said the suspect, identified only as “Lex,” attacked the victim with a knife while the latter was playing at a computer station that afternoon.
The victim, identified as “Ian,” 41, sustained stab wounds to the left arm and chest and was declared dead at a hospital.
Canja said the suspect was arrested in a hot pursuit operation at his residence. The murder weapon was later recovered from a canal where the suspect allegedly discarded it.
Police said the incident was preceded by an earlier altercation between the two.
Canja added that the suspect was reportedly angered by the victim’s actions, which he believed would upset or embarrass their father.
The victim’s child has expressed intent to file murder charges against the suspect.
