BACOLOD City – A man died after he was hacked by a suitor of his sister in Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Venancio Eblacas, 56, of the said village.
Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape Jr., town police chief, said Eblacas was asleep when the suspect identified as 47-year-old Ramero Quiatchon arrived.
Quiatchon first went to the house of the victim’s sister to talk to her as he was courting her. However, the victim’s sister was already asleep as it was already past 12 midnight.
Quiatchon then went to the house of the victim when the latter pacified him.
Indiape said the suspect also wanted to talk to the victim, but the latter wanted to rest because it was already late.
This probably irked the suspect, causing him to hack the victim using a cane cutter.
The victim tried to escape but due to the severity of his injuries, he fell on the ground.
Quiatchon went back to his house after the incident and voluntarily surrendered to the barangay tanod. He is now in police custody.
