BACOLOD City – Police are still probing the motive behind the gun attack that killed a man and wounded his friend at Sitio Camp Valdez, Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
The fatality was identified as Jomel Espora, 40, of Barangay 5. His friend Rogie Fajardo, 23, of Barangay 5 was wounded.
Police Master Sergeant Robert Castro, investigator of Sipalay City Police Station, said Espora was driving a motorcycle to Hinoba-an town when two persons onboard a motorcycle tailed them.
Upon approaching the crime scene, the perpetrators shot them and fled.
Espora suffered multiple gunshot wounds while Fajardo sustained a lone gunshot wound in the head.
Espora was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while Fajardo was referred to a hospital here.
Police recovered from the scene four fired bullets of caliber .9mm ammunition.
Castro said they have difficulty identifying the perpetrators because there were no witnesses at the crime scene.
“Even family ka victims, wala kabalo kung may previous threat sila or kung ano ila activities,” he added.
Castro said the victims have no record with the police and barangay.
