BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is looking into the alleged drug links of a couple who was shot inside their rented house at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 here yesterday morning.
The incident led to the death of Rahnz Morre Banias, 29, of Barangay Banago here. His live-in-partner Mary Liza Pahamutang, 36, was wounded.
Lieutenant Liberty Indiape, BCPO’s public information officer, said the couple was sleeping when the gunman entered the house and shot them.
“Wala man lock ang ila balay, gulpi lang gid sila ginsulod,” she added.
Banias suffered three gunshot wounds in his right arm and head. He was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here where he was declared dead on arrival.
Pahamutang suffered gunshot wounds in the left eye and back and is confined to a private hospital here.
Police recovered from the scene five fired cartridges and a dud bullet of an unknown firearm.
Indiape said they are investigating if the alleged involvement of the couple in illegal drugs triggered the shooting, aside from looking into their other personal activities.
Indiape said Banias were identified as alleged street level individuals in the area.
She also said that they learned that some of Pahamutang’s family members were previously arrested for a drug offense.
“For now, ga focus ta sa possible drug-related na angle while we’re still conducting profiling,” she added.
